Morris Day’s career success includes sales of more than 10 million units through both his solo career and as the flashy and charismatic frontman for The Time.

Born in Minneapolis, Morris Day had a flair for fashion from an early age. Inspired by photographs of his grandpa in zoot suits, a true fashionista was formed! Day went to school with Prince Rogers Nelson and sang in Prince's first band Grand Central. As Prince grew as an artist, so did the opportunity around him.

Morris Day and The Time was initially created as Prince's alter ego, as the cool, street-wise funk band contrasting Prince's more soulful R&B sound. Prince wanted someone with mad talent, so he recruited his high school friend, the funky and fabulous Morris Day. Morris Day and the Time was cast in the 1984 film Purple Rain which captured the exploding Minneapolis music scene at its peak.

Morris Day burst onto the music scene with the group’s self-titled album, The Time, which included “Get It Up,” “Cool,” and “Girl.” The group went on to record three more albums, including What Time Is It? (featuring the hits “777-9311,” “Wild and Loose,” “Walk,” and “Gigolos Get Lonely Too”) and Ice Cream Castle, (which included the hits “Jungle Love” and “The Bird”).

After three albums with the Time, Morris Day launched his solo career, releasing three additional albums: The Color of Success, Daydreaming, and Guaranteed. Morris Day continues to tour and entertain fans with his dynamic live shows featuring his signature funk-infused R&B sound.

Formed in 1976 on the campus of Kentucky State University, MIDNIGHT STAR quickly developed a reputation locally as a jamming party band at dances, covering top 40 material of the day. Within 2 years, they had signed a record deal and released their first album.

Their fourth album, released in 1983, catapulted the band into mainstream success with their signature techno-funk sound on the hit singles "Freak-AZoid," and the title cut "No Parking On The Dance Floor." The album NO PARKING ON THE DANCE FLOOR reached an amazing milestone in the group’s career with over 2 million units sold and RIAA Double Platinum Certification. Album five, PLANETARY INVASION, provided the group's first No. 1 R&B hit, "Operator," which remained in the No. 1 position for five weeks.
