About Us

The Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater or “The Fred” is Peachtree City’s favorite outdoor concert experience.

A rustic path through the woods leads fans to The Fred, which offers a mix of table, theater-style, and lawn seating options. The open-air venue nestled in the Georgia pines is a popular destination for fans to experience national and international touring acts along with up-and-coming performers. The 2,500-seat facility offers music fans an intimate and unique concert experience unlike any other venue in the greater Atlanta area.

More than forty years ago, the McIntosh Trail Arts Council commissioned the build of a 1,600-seat outdoor facility to showcase a play entitled “The McIntosh Trail.” Written by Dr. Kermit H. Hunter, the play told the story of Chief William McIntosh’s tragic death and debuted in the summer of 1976. The City of Peachtree City purchased the facility in 1977 and reopened the venue under the name “McIntosh Amphitheater.” During the next decade, McIntosh Amphitheater would play host to the weekly McIntosh Opry, showcasing local, regional country, bluegrass music, and clogging acts.

In 1986, the programming expanded to include “oldies” music acts, as well as regular appearances by the Atlanta Pops Orchestra. In 1989, a fire tragically damaged the facility, closing the venue temporarily.

In 1991, after facility renovations, the amphitheater was reopened and rebranded as the Frederick Brown, Jr. Amphitheater. Named for former Peachtree City Mayor Frederick Brown Jr. in honor of his many contributions to the community, the venue is now known affectionately by fans as “The Fred.”

In 2018, the City of Peachtree City selected PTR to book concerts and manage the venue operations. PTR is a joint venture of Atlanta-based companies: Premier Events, RCS Productions, and FrshTix. This trio of the top event professionals in the Southeast brings their combined experience and expertise in managing all aspects of the venue, from booking entertainment and day-to-day operations to sponsorship sales, marketing, ticketing, and concessions. Concert and event industry veteran, Carol Kelley, is the venue’s General Manager. Kelley and the PTR team strive to continue The Fred’s legacy as the “best outdoor live music experience” in the Atlanta metro area.
