Your Music. Your Amphitheater

About Us

Voted “Best Music Venue” in 2018 and 2019 by Insite Atlanta Magazine, the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater or “The Fred” is Peachtree City’s preeminent amphitheater.

More than forty years ago, the McIntosh Trail Arts Council commissioned the build of a 1,600-seat outdoor facility to showcase a play entitled, “The McIntosh Trail.” Written by Dr. Kermit H. Hunter, the play told story of the tragic death of Chief William McIntosh and debuted in the summer of 1976.

The City of Peachtree City purchased the facility in 1977 and reopened the venue under the name “McIntosh Amphitheater.” During the next decade, McIntosh Amphitheater would play host to the weekly McIntosh Opry, showcasing local, regional country, bluegrass music and clogging acts. In 1986, the programming expanded to include “oldies” music acts, as well as regular appearances by the Atlanta Pops Orchestra.

In 1989, a fire tragically damaged the facility, closing the amphitheater temporarily. After a few years of repairs and renovations, the amphitheater rebranded as “Frederick Brown, Jr. Amphitheater” and was reopened in 1991. Named for former Peachtree City Mayor Frederick Brown Jr. in honor of his many contributions to the community, the venue would come to be known affectionately by fans as “The Fred.” The amphitheater has since become as a concert venue for national and international touring acts, including an annual summer concert series. The 2,500-seat facility offers music fans an intimate and unique concert experience unlike any other venue in the greater Atlanta area.

In 2018, PTR, LLC, was selected by the City of Peachtree City to book concerts and manage venue operations. PTR, LLC, is a joint venture of Atlanta-based companies: Premier Events, RCS Productions, and Ticket Alternative. This trio of the top event professionals in the Southeast bring their combined experience and expertise in managing all aspects of the venue from booking entertainment and day-to-day operations, to sponsorship sales, marketing, ticketing and concessions. To assist in daily operations, Carol Kelley, who has nearly 30 years of industry experience, was appointed by PTR as the venue’s General Manager. Kelley and the PTR team, strive to continue The Fred’s legacy as the “best music venue” in the Atlanta metro area.
